Alice E. Knowles

Alice E. Knowles, 88, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 2, 2008 after a recent diagnosis of cancer. She survived a near fatal automobile accident in March of this year. She aggressively worked her way back through inpatient rehabilitation. She was seen walking the block with her walker daily in August. She loved to be outdoors mowing the lawn, painting the house and raking leaves. She loved to make people laugh and all her health care providers called her “cute” and wanted to adopt her. She was strong willed and self reliant. Alice was born in Velasco, Texas November 5, 1919. She retired from the Dow Hospital in the 1950’s . She then moved to Galveston to take care of her Mother Ethel & Step-Father. She attended Central Methodist Church for over 50 years. She lived this last year in Angleton with her sister Lee. She is survived by her sister Lee Whatley, 3-nieces; Linda Whatley, Norma Jean Blair & Betty Sue Court. 2-nephews; Tommy Knowles & Johnny Knowles and dear friend Martha Ward of Austin, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Randy Whatley & Brother-in-law B.C. Whatley & brother; T.J. Knowles.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bonnie Cowing officiating. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until service time on Monday. In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests donations may be made to the Brazoria County SPCA P.O.
