John Carlos Bolton
April 14, 1942--May 8, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we remember Carlos (J.C.) Bolton who passed away in his home on May 8, 2026, at the age of 84. His life was dedicated to being an extraordinary husband, father, and Papa.
Carlos enjoyed growing his own vegetables, hunting, woodworking, family crawfish boils/barbecues, and traveling. He and his wife Peggy loved crisscrossing America in their RV and later exploring historical sites in Europe.
But camping with his family was his biggest love, and Garner State Park was his favorite spot. Floating the Frio, climbing Old Baldy, and telling very scary ghost stories around the campfire were always on his itinerary. However, it was his legendary treasure hunts with clever, rhyming clues that sent his adult children and grandchildren spilling into the beds of pickup trucks and scrambling across the park to be the team to find the pot of gold (or at least a $20 bill and a few lottery tickets).
Upon retiring from BASF after 30 years of service, Carlos moved to Danbury and built his and Peggy’s little dream home on a plot of land in Danbury next to his youngest daughter Kristel and her family. He enjoyed walking the cypress-lined pond every morning making sure there were no alligators in it that might harm his family.
Carlos leaves behind his high school sweetheart turned wife of 63 years, Peggy Bolton, daughter Leah Fry and her husband David of Midlothian, son Jeffery Bolton and his wife Michelle of Angleton, daughter Kristel Blackwell and her husband Bubba of Danbury, and son John Mark Bolton of Upstate New York, his grandchildren Jacob Bolton, Sarah Bolton Gandhi, Bodie Fry, Tyler Blackwell, Bailey Fry, and Dylan Blackwell. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, with another on the way who will carry his name. He is also survived by his three younger sisters, Mary Jones, Jo Anna Johnson, and Tina Sutton, who are quite sure their Bubba hung the moon.
A true Texas-styled barbecue and Gulf Coast crawfish boil will be held late June to celebrate this wonderful man’s life and legacy.
