John Henry Thompson, Jr., 85, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. Born on August 3, 1940, in Perryton, Texas, John lived a life filled with creativity, laughter, music, and love for his family and friends.
John was a talented photographer with an artistic eye and a passion for capturing the beauty of everyday life. He once shared that passion as an art teacher, inspiring others through creativity and expression. Music was another important part of his life, as he enjoyed playing bass guitar and performing as a member of a band during his younger years.
Professionally, John worked as a Welding and Coating Inspector, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he found joy on the water while boating and was well known for his playful spirit. Family and friends will fondly remember his harmless pranks, especially the plastic bugs he loved placing in his food, to surprise those he cared about most. His sense of humor and warm personality brought smiles to many throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Thompson, Sr. and Frankie Bell Thompson, and by his sister, Linda Odineal.
He is survived by his loving children, Gina Casper, Belinda Robertson, Nina Wagner and husband David. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: James Casper, Michelle Safley, Jauree West, Alyssa Robertson, Mark Shipman, Hailey Shipman, Dakota Shipman, Ayden Wagner, Chase Wagner, Carter Casper, Cayli Casper, Keith Safley, Wyatt Safley, Konner Pugh, Kashton Pugh, Kalisi Crisp, and Kalani Crisp, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation for John will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Palms Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Angleton Cemetery.
John will be remembered for his creativity, humor, kindness, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to know and love him.
