Luke Naquin

Luke Naquin passed into Heaven's gates on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the age of 89. He was born in Grand Choteau, Louisiana. on Friday, April 14, 1921 to Estelle Angelle and Jean Naquin. He was preceded into Heaven by his loving wife of 56 years, Ethel Larson Naquin; his lovely first wife, Juanita Nelson, who died shortly after childbirth; his parents, Estelle and Jean Naquin; five brothers Hector (Elaine), Mectile, Wilfred, Simon, and Elmer; one sister Lucille Clark (Moss); brothers- in-law Nook Leblanc, Roy Larson, Lionell McGee, Andrew Larson (Doris) and sister- in-law Doris Nichols (Nick). Luke is survived by his daughter, Juanita Fox of Manvel, Texas; son Ronnie Naquin and Lori of Brazoria, Texas; daughter Janell Novak and Larry of Angleton, Texas; daughter Dr. Darlene McConathy and Doyle of Angleton, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters, Vickie LeBlanc of Cecilia, Lousiana, and Clemance McGee of Port Arthur, Texas; one brother-in law, Warren and wife Wanda of Brazoria, Texas; sister-in-laws, Marion Naquin, Evelyn Naquin of Louisiana and Martha Larson Nash of Liverpool, Texas. Luke was blessed with the love of eight grandchildren, Kenneth Fox, Dr. Kimberly King, Ryan Naquin, Amanda Reed, Jerome Novak, Samantha Deckert, Cameron McConathy and Keaton McConathy, 12 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was employed with Phillips 66 in Sweeny, Texas, for over 50 years and was a member of Insulators Asbestos Local 22 for over 31 years. He worked at Phillips, Monsanto, Rhodia and plants in Beaumont and Texas City. He was a veteran of World War II and proudly served his country in the Navy. He was one of the few veterans to survive the battle at Guadall Canal. He was a member of Phillip's mens club, The Angleton VFW, and the Angleton Knight's of Columbus. He was also a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton.
If one thing that can be remembered about Luke Naquin is that he loved to talk, and talk he did. He loved gardening and working on his farm. He enjoyed grafting his native pecan trees. He had many fruit trees and flowers of all varieties that he loved to share with friends and family. He definitely had a green thumb. His family was his life and his joy.
Pallbearers will be children, Juanita Fox, Ronnie Naquin, Janell Novak and Dr. Darlene McConathy, and grandchildren, Kenneth Fox, Ryan Naquin, Cameron McConathy, Keaton McConathy and Daniel Deckert.
The family wishes to thank A-Med Hospice for all their love and support. Visitation will be Thursday, August 26, 2010 5:00-7:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will follow on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Texas. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery.
