Cecily Cochran Wynn
December 29, 1954 – January 14, 2026
Cecily Cochran Wynn passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born on December 29, 1954, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in Comanche County, to Col. Arthur Frank Cochran and Virginia Delayne (Stoot) Cochran, both of whom preceded her in death.
Cecily was also preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Jerry Bob Snow and John Wynn.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Finn, and her husband, Chad; her grandson, Jayce Guillot; her brother, Arthur Cochran; and her sister, Anne Cochran, along with extended family and many dear friends.
An Episcopalian by faith, Cecily lived a life defined by curiosity, compassion, and an unquenchable love for the natural world. An Army brat and lifelong world traveler, she carried a gypsy heart that led her across continents and cultures. She was an accomplished horse rider, an avid animal lover, and a passionate environmentalist, with a particular devotion to wolves, birds, and bats.
Cecily earned two master’s degrees in science and devoted her professional life to education. As a professor, she taught all fields of science as well as English, inspiring countless students with her intellect, enthusiasm, and boundless knowledge. Her academic passion began early, culminating in a college thesis focused on bats—creatures she admired deeply and advocated for throughout her life.
Cecily’s legacy is one of fierce intelligence, adventurous spirit, and deep love for both people and the planet. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, independence, and the way she encouraged others to see the world with wonder and responsibility, through her advocacy, strong will and determination.
Memorial services will be held at Palms Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
