Drew Eugene Culpepper was born on January 26, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas, to Mary Catherine and Herman Mack Culpepper. He was the second of four children and grew up surrounded by family, faith, and a strong sense of community. During his high school years, Drew moved to Sweeny, Texas, where he excelled in sports and met his high school sweetheart, Fredell. They married in 1968, beginning a devoted partnership that would last a lifetime.
After completing college, Drew proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1977, he and Fredell settled in Richwood, Texas, where they raised their two children and built a life grounded in love, service, and dedication to family.
Drew was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Angleton, where he served as a Deacon. He was always willing to give of his time and talents, especially through church maintenance and landscaping—quiet, behind-the-scenes acts of service that reflected his humble spirit and strong faith.
Above all else, Drew cherished his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took great pride in each one of them. He loved nothing more than teasing and joking with Jacob and Daniel, Libby and Will, filling their lives with laughter and unforgettable memories.
Drew passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Catherine and Herman Mack Culpepper, by his siblings, Mack Culpepper and Sue (Culpepper) Cote, and his brother-in-law, Larry Doolen.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Fredell Culpepper; his sister, Beth (Culpepper) DeMott, and her husband Ron; his sister-in-law, Carla Doolen; his children, Amy (Culpepper) Marroquin and her husband Marcus, and Kent Culpepper and his wife Carrie; his treasured grandchildren, Jacob and Daniel Marroquin, and Libby and Will Culpepper; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Angleton, Texas, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
Drew will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of God. His legacy lives on through the family he loved deeply and the many lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and steady presence.
