Matias Alexander Lopez, lovingly known as “Alex,” was born on November 19, 1976. He entered the gates of Heaven on January 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Alex was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Matias and Esther Lopez. He was raised in both Brownsville and Houston, Texas, and later lived in Baytown, Houston, and eventually Angleton, Texas. Alex had been married and was blessed with three wonderful sons, Andrew, Anthony, and Michael, who were his greatest pride and joy.

Alex was a hardworking man who spent many years working as a chemical loader. He had a friendly and caring demeanor and naturally made those around him happy. Alex loved to joke and laugh.

He cherished life’s simple joys, such as taking drives with his sons or sisters, fishing with his sons, watching the Houston Rockets and the Houston Texans, and sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. He had also recently begun attending church on Sundays, which became a meaningful part of his life.

Alex is survived by his mother, Esther Lopez; his father, Matias J. Lopez; his sons, Andrew Lopez, Anthony Lopez, and Michael Lopez; his sister, Rosemary Cantu; his sister, Patricia Cosme; and his sister, Grace Ceniceros.

Alex will be remembered for his generous heart and selfless nature, his genuine smile, his love for singing Tejano music, and the deep love he carried in his heart for his sons and his family. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
