William "Billy" Charles LeCompte, 89, of Danbury, passed away on May 2, 2022, after a brief illness. Billy ("Uncle Preacher", "Preacher", "Gus" or "Pawpaw", depending on how you were related or when you met him) was born in Angleton to parents William Joseph and Annette Peltier LeCompte and was a life-long resident of Danbury. He started working in his family's rice fields at a young age and continued until he was drafted into the Army in December 1952. He served two years state-side during the Korean War and returned to work on the family rice farm in Danbury. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Bessie Treesh, and they were married on September 15, 1955. Together they raised a son, Charles, and daughter, Annette. He lived his life as a devoted husband, father, and "Pawpaw" to his two grandsons and great-grandson. He took great pride in his faith, family, and farming and was a wonderful example to his family and friends of a life well-lived. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David and Eugene, and sister Betty Knape. He is survived by his wife Bessie; son Charles and wife Peggy; daughter Annette LeCompte; grandson Justin LeCompte; grandson Steven LeCompte and wife Lindsey and great grandson Colton; sisters Rose Phillips and Alice Pratt; brothers Raymond LeCompte and Roy LeCompte and wife Mari Vic; and a host of other family members and friends who will dearly miss his warm smile and guidance. He was a life-long member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and volunteered on numerous occasions in various roles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, Danbury, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 pm Friday, May 6, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, Danbury, Texas.
