Wilburn Lee Nesmith, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on November 6, 1938, in Bedias, Texas, to Radford Franklin and Lucy May Nesmith, Wilburn's life was one of strength, love, and a passion for nature.


Wilburn's journey began in the heart of Texas, where he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Outside of his hobbies, he also had a green thumb and took great pride in gardening, canning, and cooking delicious meals for his loved ones. Wilburn’s family meant the most to him. His most cherished memories were those times he spent with his grandchildren.


On June 20, 1959, Wilburn married the love of his life, Billie Day Nesmith, in Freeport, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around love, family, and shared experiences. Throughout their years together, they instilled strong values in their children, leaving a lasting legacy of love and compassion.


Wilburn was a dedicated painter in the construction industry, utilizing his keen eye for detail and artistic abilities. His passion for his work was evident in every stroke of the brush, and he left behind a testament to his craftsmanship and talent.


Wilburn's memory will forever be cherished by his family: Beverly Carroll (Randy), Glenda Nesmith, Brenda Kimberly. His grandchildren: Kristy O’Brien (John), Jake Carroll, Amber Carroll, Justin Carroll, Leslie Paladino, April, Steven, Katie, and Sara, His great-grandchildren: Katlyn Wallace (Dylan), Cody O’Brien (Audrey), Caleb O’Brien (Kenzie), Meagan Carroll, Easton Carroll, Macy Paladino and Mason Paladino, along with his 5 great-great grandchildren. Wilburn is also survived by his siblings: Charlie Nesmith, John Vernon Nesmith, Billy Nesmith, Bobby Nesmith, Kitty Raymond, Jessee Douthitt, and Janie Sue Stratton.


Wilburn will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Radford Frankling and Lucy May Nesmith, his beloved wife, Billie Nesmith, and his siblings: Ervin, James, Elmer, Howard, Mitchell, Doyle, Jewel, Vernice, and Louise.


The funeral service honoring Wilburn Lee Nesmith's life will take place on January 31, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas. Prior to the service, a public viewing will be held at 10:00 am for friends and loved ones to pay their respects.


Wilburn's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and touched. May his spirit find eterrnal peace, and may his memories bring solace and comfort to all those who mourn his loss.
