Vicki Lee Collins Miles was born on December 8, 1946, in St. Joseph Infirmary in Houston, Texas. Vicki passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Vicki was a long-time resident of Alvin, Texas and attended Alvin Missionary Baptist Church. Vicki got great joy at teaching kindergarten for almost 30 years, the majority of those years at Burbank Elementary in Houston.
As a young girl, Vicki was in the Brownies and the girl Scouts. At Angleton High School, she was a member of the band, was inducted into the National Honor Society. She was also a member of the Future Teachers of America. Following high school, Vicki got her associate degree from Jacksonville Baptist College, then her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.
As an adult, Vicki was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Women’s Auxiliary for AA, and the Merrymakers at Alvin Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1973, she married the love of her life, Gary Gene Miles. She and Gary were married for 21 years before Gary’s death in 1994.
Vicki was also preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Eck Collins, and Barbara Jean Collins.
Vicki is survived by her brother, Wallace Craig Collins and sister, Leslie Jean Campbell and nine nieces and nephews. Memorials in Vicki’s name can be made to Alvin Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
