Teresa Louise (Webber) Geissen

Teresa Louise (Webber) Geissen, 83, of Danbury, Texas, passed into eternal rest on September 27, 2025, in Alvin, Texas. Born on February 2, 1942, in Arcadia, Texas, Teresa was the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Anderson) Webber. She was the youngest of 8 children and grew up working at her family’s gas station and drugstore on Hwy 6 in Arcadia. She graduated from The Ursuline Academy in Galveston, Texas, where she built the foundation for a life devoted to God, family, and community. After graduation she went to meet her older sister, Sister Imelda Marie (Suggie), at the Our Lady of Victory convent in Fort Worth. At OLV she briefly contemplated the religious life. Life had other plans for her though. She left the convent after six months, returning a year later for a visit, but this time with her fiancé Jack. On November 9, 1963, Teresa married the love of her life, James (Jack) Roger Geissen, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock, Texas. Together, they built a life of hard work, deep faith, and steadfast love in Danbury, Texas. Teresa and Jack farmed and ranched side by side, growing rice, cotton, soybeans, and milo. Later in life, while their friends were beginning to think about retirement, they began a new chapter as commercial egg farmers in Moulton, Texas with their eldest son, Phillip. After the egg business was established, Teresa returned to Danbury where she and Jack continued to garden and raise cattle. Teresa was proud to serve as an Advisor for the County Committee of the Brazoria-Galveston Farm Services Agency for several years, ensuring that the specific needs of farmers in the Brazoria-Galveston area were being addressed. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her group of “old lady” friends for almost 50 years. Bingo, casinos and taking road trips with her “old lady” friends were always a delight and an adventure for her. Places like New Orleans, Lake Charles or Las Vegas come to mind. Trips to Canton and any other place that had crafts and antiques were always on the itinerary as well. Teresa loved collecting crafts and antiques, or “junk” as Jack affectionately phrased it, of all kinds. For many years she volunteered teaching catechism, serving on the Parish Council and was a member of the Alter Society at St. Anthony’s in Danbury. Later on she retired from these more traditional volunteering roles to become affectionately known as the “Snack Lady” to children of the parish. Wednesday afternoons were for serving up a really good cheese sandwich and other fine snacks to the kids. Her kindness and generosity touched many young lives. Teresa loved every moment spent with her children and their families. She looked forward to gatherings both small and large, and her legacy will live on through the countless happy memories created with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will forever remember feeding chickens and gathering eggs, enjoying her endless desserts (especially her kolaches!), sneaking chocolates from her always-full candy jar, and helping her slip new “treasures” past Grandpa after a shopping trip. Some of the best times were spent around her kitchen table at regular Sunday dinners and large family gatherings, playing cards and dominoes all day, or riding the Mule around just to see what there was to be seen. Nana may have not handed out the vocal “I love you’s” often, but she was very proud of each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Teresa is survived by her sister, Imelda Marie (Suggie) Sharp of Waco; her children: Phillip Geissen (Gernadette) of Moulton, Jackie Lander (Bill), Julie Geissen (Joe), all of Danbury, and Gaschen Geissen (Shanna) of Alvin; her grandchildren: Lawton Lander (Brenna) of Bryan, Garrett Geissen of Needville, Hayden Lander of Champaign, IL, Grant Geissen of Moulton, Gunnar Lander of Sandia, Ayden Geissen, and Peyton Geissen, both of Alvin; her great-grandchildren: Blaire and James Lander; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, James R. “Jack” Geissen; her son, Matthew Geissen; her parents, Robert and Thelma Webber; her sisters Mary Frances LeCompte, Roberta Hudson, and Antoinette Winn; and her brothers Joe, Paul, and Robert Webber. Pallbearers are: Grandchildren: Peyton Geissen, Ayden Geissen, Gunnar Lander, Grant Geissen, Hayden Lander, Garrett Geissen, Lawton Lander. Nephew: Gerald Geissen and great-nephew: Colby Geissen All services will be held at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Danbury, Texas. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 2, from 9:30–10:30 AM, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, with burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. In celebrating Teresa’s life, her family takes comfort in knowing that after experiencing severely declined health the last several years she has now been reunited with Jack, Matthew, and all those who have gone before her, and that her spirit lives on in all who loved her. The family would like to give a very special and heartfelt thank you to Joyce and David Rhodes and all the staff of Chester House at Sadie Farms in Alvin, Texas. Joyce, David and all of the staff provided such wonderful and caring support for our mother during her last days. Angels truly do walk among us.
