Steven Ray Wade

Steven Ray Wade, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with an illness. Born on September 5, 1959, at Dow Hospital in Freeport, Texas. He was the cherished son of Richard Wade and Patsy Powell Wade. Steve is survived by his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and his parents. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Gary Wade, whose memory he held dear throughout his life. On November 12, 1982, Steve married the love of his life, Rhonda Berryhill, in Freeport, Texas. Their love story began in the most serendipitous of places, as they met while both were patients at the Community Hospital, having been introduced by a mutual friend, Wanda Jo Coker. It was a connection they each knew was destined for a lifetime together. Over the years, Steve and Rhonda built a beautiful life, raising four wonderful children: Steven (Jamie) Wade, Krystal (Justin) Sims, Mark (Annie) Wade, and Christopher Wade. A devoted family man, Steve's pride and joy were his eight grandchildren, Ila, Presley, Maura, Olivia, Penelope, Mia, Tarah, and Ethan, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Known affectionately as the "baby whisperer," Steve had a magical touch with children, soothing even the fussiest of babies with ease. His legacy as a loving husband, caring father, and great friend will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. Steve was an active member of the Clute Church of Christ, where he found joy in leading acapella singing and serving as a Deacon and Bible class teacher. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, providing him with strength and purpose. In his leisure time, Steve was an avid firearms enthusiast, a tinkerer, and he enjoyed golfing until his health no longer allowed it. He had a love for music, computers, and sports of all kind. In his younger years, he and his brother found joy in working on cars and rebuilding engines. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured by his family for generations. Steve's remarkable journey began with his education at Brazoswood High School, from which he graduated in 1978. Following High School graduation he entered and completed the Electrical certification program at Brazosport College. A few years later, he pursued his passion for technology by completing specialized classes in computer tech and coding, a field he would excel in during his career. Steve's professional life was marked by dedication and innovation, first working as an electrician for Gulf States for a decade, and then contributing over 25 years to Dow, where he mastered specialized computer languages. A service to honor Steve's life will be held on August 21, 2026, with visitation at 5:00 PM and services following at 6:00 PM, at Palms Funeral Home, located at 2300 E Mulberry St, Angleton, TX. All are welcome to join us for the Graveside on August 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Houston Methodist Hospital, particularly those who work with liver transplant patients.
