In Loving Memory of Roberto “ Robert” Banda

July 27, 1945 – August 9, 2026

Roberto Banda, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, went to his eternal rest on August 9, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on July 27, 1945, in Yorktown Tx. Roberto lived a life centered around faith, family, hard work, service, and helping others.

Roberto was a proud United States Army veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Division. His dedication to serving others continued throughout his life. He worked for Tilson Homes for more than 40 years, where he shared his knowledge, experience, and skills with countless workers. He took pride in teaching others and making sure they had the knowledge and tools they needed to succeed in the framing industry. His work ethic and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Outside of work, Roberto found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved spending time outdoors, sitting in his garage listening to Tejano music, working on his many outside projects, taking care of his yard, and spending time with his beloved truck. He was also known for his delicious BBQ chicken, which he loved making for family gatherings. Those meals were more than just food—they were opportunities to bring the family together and create memories that will be treasured forever.

Roberto loved traveling to visit family in California, Arizona, and Colorado. He also made frequent monthly trips to the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle, a place that held special meaning to him. His faith was an important part of his life, and his devotion brought him comfort and strength.

A true sports fan, Roberto could often be found watching the Houston Texans on Sundays during football season and cheering on the Houston Astros during baseball season. Whether he was watching the game, working in his yard, listening to Tejano music, or surrounded by family, Roberto knew how to appreciate the moments that made life special.

Most of all, Roberto was a good man with a generous heart. He was always doing something for someone else and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He loved his family with all his heart and made sure they always knew just how much they meant to him. His kindness, humor, hard work, and unconditional love will live on through the many lives he touched.

Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Ventura Banda and Maria Silgero Banda; his brothers, Raymundo Banda and John Banda; and his sister, Eva Martinez.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ruth Banda, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, memories, and family. He is also survived by his daughter, Tina Garza, and his beloved grandchildren: Bryanna Perez, Christina Madrigal (John), Robert Garza(Montse), Zachary Garza, Andrew Garza.His great grandchildren: John Jr, Eli, and Luke Madrigal, Delilah Lemons-Garza, Ezekiel Garcia, Isaiah Garcia, and Elijah Garcia,Bode and Sawyer Garza.

He is also survived by his brothers, Ray Banda (Ava), Tony Banda (Sandy), and Richard Banda (Mistie), along with numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish their memories of Uncle Robert.

Viewing and church service will be held on Monday August 17,2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Angleton. The viewing starts at 9:00AM and ends at 11:00AM with the church services immediately following.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, Roberto’s legacy will live on through his family, the lessons he taught, the people he helped, and the countless memories he created. His love will continue to surround those who knew him, and his memory will remain in their hearts forever.
