Robert “Bubba” Faickney

Robert Francis Faickney III, 80, of Galveston passed away on September 9, 2026. Robert was born on December 31, 1945, in Houston to Robert Francis Faickney Jr. and John Douglas “Johnnie” (Weems) Faickney.

After growing up in Angleton, Robert attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1968. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity where he made many lifelong connections. In the 1970s, he began his homebuilding career in Vail, Colorado before returning to Texas and marrying the love of his life, Donna Baker.

Robert and Donna made their home in Lake Jackson, where they raised their family. Robert worked in construction and at the Faickney Lumber Co. in Angleton. He was an avid tennis player and made many friends on the courts in the Brazosport area.

Robert and Donna then moved to Galveston, where Robert enjoyed sitting on the porch, taking in the coastal air, and meeting new people. In Galveston he became involved in Coastal Community Church, delighted in fellowship and deepening his faith.

Robert will be remembered for his laid-back nature, his love of family, and his kindness to everyone he met. His genuine goodness and easygoing spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his son Harrison and his wife, Lee, and their children, Hudson, Parker, and Cora; and his son Chandler and his wife, Ashley, and their children, Kohen, Walker, and River; niece Elizabeth Poindexter and her husband John, and their children Robert and Katherine. He also leaves behind his dear friend G.I. Hodges who was by his side for many of life’s adventures. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at their home in Galveston on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 1pm to 4pm. Family and friends are welcomed to drop by and share memories, stories and good food. His family takes comfort in knowing that he lived on his own terms, surrounded by the people and places he loved. Robert’s memory will remain a lasting blessing to his family and friends, who will carry his warmth, kindness, humor, and easygoing spirit with them always.
