Richard Allen Dix, aged 88, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Pearland, TX. Born on August 10, 1936, in Cando, ND. Richard served his nation with dedication, enlisting in the U.S. Army from March 1968 to December 1976. Following his military service, he pursued a law enforcement degree from Brazosport College and while working for the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department. Over 27 years, Richard ascended from patrolman to Captain of the Jail, forming many lifelong friendships along the way, particularly under Sheriffs Robert Gladney and Joe King. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel, TX. His faith was as steadfast as his love for his community and country. Known for his loyalty and dedication, Richard was also a man of many interests including horse riding, playing bingo, and charmingly inviting ladies to admire his pretty blue eyes. He leaves behind a loving family: sister Sandra and her husband Gary Rodacker; daughter Helen and her husband Michael W. Hall, Sr.; son Richard Albert Dix; grandsons Michael W. Hall, Jr. and his wife Crystal Hall, Travis Heath Hall, and Ethan Adam Hall; "Grandpa Wiskers" to great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Gracie, and Caleb; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helen Dix; siblings Janie Ruble and Larry Dix; the love of his life, his beloved wife of 38 years, Mary Dix; and sons Larry and Eddie Dix.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 12:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Brazoria County Association for Children's Habilitation (BACH), supporting a cause dear to Richard's heart. Richard's legacy of service, both in the military and local law enforcement, as well as his profound commitment to his family and faith, will forever be cherished and remembered.
