Rhydonia Felder Stowers

Rhydonia Felder Stowers, 83, of Pearland passed peacefully in her sleep on May 21, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1943, in Houston, Texas and grew up in Angleton, Texas.

After graduating from Angleton high school, Rhydonia moved to Houston, where she met her future husband, Doug Stowers. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this July.

Rhydonia, or Donie, as she was known to friends and family, had a heart for service. After working in the banking industry as a loan officer for most of her career, she decided it was time for a change and went to work for the South Belt-Ellington Leader community newspaper as a typesetter and proofreader. She later began working in the China Department at Foley’s Department Store, where she helped numerous brides-to-be, on their wedding journey.

In 1998, after leaving Foley’s, she became a Brazoria County Master Gardener. In this role, she spent countless hours volunteering with plant sales and student education and helping others with gardening and horticulture projects. Her own yard was a reflection of her love for flowers and gardening.

While she never stopped gardening, she also picked up Beading as another hobby, and made jewelry using seed beads and crystals. She sold a few pieces here and there but gave most of her creations away to her family and friends. Even when she could no longer follow the intricate patterns, Rhydonia would sit for hours admiring her treasured designs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Felder MacMillan, father and step-mother, Dan and Ida Bell Felder, brother, Raymond Felder, sister, Mary Letha Felder, and step-brothers, Leonard “Bud” David and Richard “Dick” David.

Rhydonia is survived by her husband, Doug Stowers; children: Karen Burton and husband Bill, Danny Stowers and wife April; siblings: Step-sisters Pat Hines (her cherished best friend since childhood, even before they became sisters), Peggy Bonneau and Diane Card. Step-brother Joe David; Brother-in-law: Don Stowers and wife Jacque; Sister-in-law: Lorine Stowers; grandchildren: Nathan Burton and fiancée Kristeen, Matthew Burton and wife Mallory, and Taylor Stowers; great grandchildren: Jackson Burton and baby girl Burton due in October. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends will cherish her memory as well.
