Ray “Lil Elvis” Rubio passed away on April 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness, now at rest and reunited with his parents and brothers. In his final moments, he was surrounded by his children, all three of his sisters, his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, as his room filled with love, good music, and shared stories.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses on the 2nd floor ICU at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital for their compassionate care and for keeping Ray comfortable in his final days.
Ray was a simple man in the best sense of the word. He found joy in the outdoors—whether he was casting a line, strumming his guitar, or tending the BBQ pit. An avid fisherman, a talented musician, and a skilled pitmaster, Ray lived life at his own pace, always laid back and easygoing. Those who knew him will remember the way he could turn any gathering into something special, often with music playing and something cooking.
He worked as a concrete pourer, a job that spoke to who he was—tough, hardworking, and deeply dedicated. He took pride in his craft and carried that same quiet strength into every part of his life.
Ray is survived by his children, Ray Allen Clement and Amber Hernandez (Stephen Hernandez); his grandchildren, Noah Rubio, Dylan Laughrey Jr., Layla Laughrey, Tyler Laughrey, and Alshom Hernandez; his sisters, Rita Rubio (Don Hall), Mona Lampe (Steve), and Ruby Rubio de Leon Vasquez (Randulfo); and his brother, John Valdez (Pam). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Palm’s Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas on Saturday, May 9th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, family and friends will gather at Angleton Cemetery to place a portion of his ashes with his parents.
Ray chose to be remembered not in formality, but in the moments he loved most. His life will be honored through memories shared, stories told, and time spent together—just as he would have wanted.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
