Ray Dean Starr, 80 yrs. old of Danbury, Texas, joined his bride in Heaven on August 16, 2021. Ray was born on august 25, 1940, into a shrimping family in Matagorda County. His parents were W.A. and Staza (Zgarba) Starr. He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon, Great-Grandson Gaetano Achille, Both parents, infant sister and his brother J.D. At the ripe age of 18 he came to Danbury to visit relatives and he met the love of his life Sharron O'Dell McIntyre. They married and raised 3 children (and more) Mike (Kim), Stephen (Anne), and Lynette (Klay). There are 7 grandchildren; Nancy (Nick), Andy (Ashtin), Brazos (Hope), Madison, Peyton, Kole, and Kayla. 11 great-grandchildren; Giuseppe, Giuliano, Gianna, Gemma, Genevieve Achille, Ryleigh, Aubree, Holden, Korbin, & Jaxson Starr. Along with numerous loved and adopted grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the Danbury Baptist Church of which he was a Deacon for more than 50 years! He taught many Sunday School Classes and believed to Walk by Faith and Not by Sight! Thanks to his father-in-law, W.E. McIntyre (Mac), he went into the construction business and eventually formed Starr Construction Company. Throughout his life he was an avid Hunter and Fisherman with his passion being in Archery. Ray & Sharron were founding influences in creating Lone Star Bowhunters Association (LSBA) and were involved with legislation to protect hunter's Rights and conservation. He was a lifelong member of the LSBA. In 1970, Ray and Sharron opened Bullseye Archery and had one heck of a life guiding hunts over several states, instructing anyone who would stand still long enough on the art of archery and telling all his crazy stories! Ray and Sharron and the kids travelled all over the country meeting new friends on hunting excursions with their favorite being Colorado! We are pretty certain Colorado must be somewhere close to Heaven because that's where Ray and Sharron should be. Oh, for the record, he did not die from Covid! There will be graveside services on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 10 am at the Danbury Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his Grandsons. In lieu of flowers the family would be most appreciative if donations were made directly to Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas do defray funeral expenses. We will be gathering at the Danbury Baptist Fellowship Hall following the services. If you prefer not to be in the heat, please feel free to wait for the family at the Hall.
