Nova Dee
Stumpf
August 16, 1934 – April 23, 2026
Nova Dee (Moore) Stumpf was born August 16,1934 to Jim Robert (Bob) and
Nellie Opal (Yawn) Moore. Nova was the oldest of nine siblings (3 girls/6 boys)
Her first husband was Rev. Herbert Leon Bush who had met Nova while each
of them were working Vacation Bible School at Frank’s Branch Church.
Herbert and Nova later decided on marriage to fulfill a commitment to each
other on October 14,1950 in Fred, Texas. Subsequently they shared ministry
together as husband and wife, Ambassadors for Christ, helping small area
churches in time of need.
While their ministry was primarily shared in the Fred, Texas surrounding areas;
they received a call to a ministry assignment where they accepted positions
as missionaries in Globe, Arizona. They worked as a couple missionary team
with the First Baptist Church of Phoenix Arizona helping start and build a
church in Globe Arizona. During this missionary period two children were born
to Herbert and Nova; daughter Rhonda Gail Bush and son Randall Anthony
Bush. In 1960 the family moved back to Fred, Texas after completing time in
Globe Arizona.
In 1968, Nova married Louis Frank Stumpf and our brother Gary Lynn Stumpf
was born in 1970.
Nova had a care giver’s heart which led her to pursue nursing. When working
in the Beaumont Baptist Hospital, she met Louis. After marriage, Louis was a
band director taking a teacher assignment in Madisonville Texas. Once moving
to Madisonville from Fred- Nova resumed nursing at the Madison County
Hospital and got her nursing degree. She served many years there. Later in her
career she spent countless times as a Nursing Home nurse and special care
assist care until her retirement. She devoted herself to her Christian faith and
sharing the gospel with others. Her hobbies included crocheting, traveling,
dancing, cooking and playing piano. And her occasional trip to the nail and hair salon was
always on her agenda. Instead of blue hair she saw to it that her hair was jet-black.
Preceding her in death include Reverend Herbert Leon Bush- January 1976
and Louis Frank Stumpf- June 1995; parents Jim Robert (Bob) and Nellie Opal
