Obituary

Nelta Dawn Tinsley made her way home to be with her Lord and Savior and dearly departed family on November 16, 2025 at the age of 78. She was born in Freeport, Texas and spent most of her life in Brazoria County, Texas. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Edward Wright, and moved with him to Montgomery, Alabama while he served in the U.S. Air Force. At the end of his service, they moved back to Texas.

Nelta was a long-time employee of Shintech. Upon her retirement she spent her time crafting and especially enjoyed creating gifts for her family and friends. Nelta was a sixth-generation Texan, a descendant of Thomas Westall, one of Austin’s Old Three Hundred. She was a proud member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and a member of The Joshua D. Brown Chapter of Kerrville. She had a sharp wit and a twinkle in her eye, and she freely spread love everywhere she went. She will be deeply missed by all.

Nelta is survived by her children, who were the joy of her life, Susan Williams and her husband Dennis, of Southampton, Massachusetts; Jeffrey Wright and his wife, Mistie of Danbury, Texas; Jennifer Jenkins and her husband Mike, of Rosharon, Texas and David Wright and his wife, Jennifer, of Angleton, Texas. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Paul, Claire, Brian, Anna, Tyler, Natalie, Madyson, Mason, Ryker, Zachary and great- grandchildren, Kam, Karsyn, Kimber and Tytus. Also remaining is Nelta’s sister, Gaynell Tinsley Wells and her husband Norman Wells of Kerrville, Texas and nieces and nephew, Lori Brown, Kelly Rathbun, Kimberly Jones, and Jonathan Yu.

Nelta was preceded in death by the father of her four children, Robert; her parents, Opal and Clyde Tinsley; her brother, Robert (Bobby) Tinsley; and her sister, Sandra Tinsley Yu.

The family would like to express love and gratitude to all who offered support during this difficult time as well as a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at K’s Place in Danbury. They offered boundless love and comfort on the day of Nelta’s passing. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to K’s Place in remembrance of this beautiful soul.

At this time, the family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date. Details will be shared with loved ones when arrangements are finalized.
