Nancy Ruth Smith, 78, went home February 25, 2026. She was born July 29, 1947 to William and Geneva (Castilaw) Smith in Beaumont Texas.

She was a beautiful, joyful, creative person. She enjoyed cooking, family get togethers, friends and was a faithful worshipper of God. She loved to travels with her close cousin Erma Vasek and a much-celebrated lifelong friendship with Linda Smith.

Whether she was offering a comforting hug or a perfectly timed quip, her spirited personality left an indelible mark on those she held dear. She was fierce heart blending unconditional love with a legendary sharp-witted sass that kept everyone on their toes. As the heart of our family, Nancy’s legacy of laughter and bold honesty will be missed by all that knew her. She dances again.

She is survived by her brother Elvin Smith and his wife Terry, nephew Justin Smith and niece Melissa Muirhead. To carry on in her name are her daughters Jennifer Pacheco and Hope Thommen and son Elvis Shuler. Her grandchildren; Devin, Angel and Fernando Pacheco, Dede Lewis, Jade Smith, Demetrius and Derrick Hicks, Xzavier and Xzavia Allen; Great grandchildren; King, Jade and Jadyn Lewis; Alexander, Azleia and Azriel Pacheco.

A Memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Palms Funeral Home beginning at 4:00 pm.
