Marilyn Briggs, 81, of Angleton passed away on September 11, 2025. Marilyn was born on March 6, 1944, in Roscoe, Texas to Don and Katherine (Bowen) Wemken.
She married Gilbert Briggs on December 13, 1965, in Odessa, Texas at their home on 61st street. Marilyn and Gilbert moved their life down to Danbury and eventually Angleton around 1970.
Marilyn enjoyed many things around the home. She had a prolific green thumb and could grow the most beautiful plants. She was most proud of her roses and her lemon and grapefruit trees. She loved to cook and to carry forward her secret recipes.
Most of all Marilyn was very proud of her 3 children, Mark, Bryan, and Steven. Any time around her would often lead to her stating how proud she was of her children.
Those that preceded her in death include her parents, Don and Kathryn Wemken, her only brother, Tommy Don Wemken, and her first grandchild, Mattie Briggs.
Left to treasure her memory is her husband Gilbert Briggs;
Children: Mark Briggs and wife Susan of Lake Jackson, Bryan Briggs and wife Brandi of Danbury, and Steven Briggs and wife Ashie of Lake Jackson; grandchildren: Trish, Nicholas, and Katelyn of Danbury, Kevin, and Eric of Pearland, and Taylor Briggs and wife Kayla of Lake Jackson; great grandchild: Dakota Briggs of Lake Jackson; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service following at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Palms Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Danbury Cemetery.
