Maj. Charles Leon Rich (Ret.) of Angleton passed away on July 27, 2014 at the age of 92. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Angleton, and interment will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Mr. Rich was born on August 5, 1921 in Trenton, Alabama to Floyd Marshall and Mary Emma Ardis Rich. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1938 and retired from the Army in 1958. Charles was in the fourth wave on D-Day in France. He was in the infantry in a tank battalion. He also served as a guard for Japanese war prisoners prior to entering the Korean War. Charles was a Past Master of the Angleton Lodge and had 50 years in Masonry. Charles is preceded in death by brothers, Glen Rich and Holley Plaster. He is survived by his wife, Charmaine Wiest Rich; sons: John Rich and wife, Karen of Longview, TX; Mark Rich and wife, Lynn of Manvel, TX; David Rich and wife, Cinda of Angleton, TX; brother, Vernon Rich and wife, Mary Sue of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren: Joshua Rich, Rachell Stanford; Hunter, Kyle, and Justin Rich; great-grandchildren: Devon Rich and Ryann Stanford.
