Larry Joe Ortiz, 66 of Angleton, Texas passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. Larry Joe was born on August 19, 1959, in Angleton, Texas to Edward (Lalo) and Adelfa (Trevino) Ortiz. He was proud to call Angleton home and spent his life building lasting friendships throughout the community.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Adelfa Ortiz; his grandmother, Raquel Santos Treviño; his sister, Irma Ortiz; his brother, Hector Ortiz; and his nephew Jake Ortiz.

He is survived by his twin sister, Linda Ortiz-Davis (Bryan); his brothers, Edward Harry Ortiz, Richard Ortiz (Kelly), Ralph Ortiz, Chris Ortiz, his sisters, Olga Ortiz, Lisa Ortiz (Ralph); and his nieces and nephews Shawn Michael Dillard, Leslie Ortiz, Rusty Ortiz, Dusty Ortiz, Chase Ortiz, Edward Ryan Soto, Raven Ortiz, Collen Ortiz, Courtney Dillard-Berger, Mason Ortiz, Summer Ortiz, Cole Ortiz and Braxton Ortiz. He also leaves behind many extended family members, lifelong friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Larry Joe lived a life defined by love for his family, compassion for others and a servant's heart. Known for his warm smile, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and freely offered friendship. He brought people together with ease, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and connection. Above all, family was at the center of his life, and the legacy of love he built will endure for generations to come. He also enjoyed competing in barbecue cookoffs alongside his father and brothers, creating memories filled with friendly competition, and family pride that he treasured throughout his life.

Larry Joe was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and looked forward to every football season. His loyalty to his team was just one of the many things that made him uniquely Larry. He was well known as the owner of Larry Joe's Bar, where he welcomed friends and customers with warmth and hospitality. Also, a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Larry believed in serving his community and valued friendships he made through the organization.

Although his time with us was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew him forever. His legacy is one of love, loyalty, laughter, and family.

Services to honor Larry Joe Ortiz will be held as follows:

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the prayer of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at San Luis Catholic Church located at 520 E. 2nd Street 78164 Yorktown, Texas. Burial will immediately take place at San Luis Catholic Cemetery, located at 1254 TX-72 Yorktown, Texas 78164.

Following the burial, family and friends are warmly invited to join the family for lunch as they gather to share memories and celebrate Larry’s life.
