Obituary

Karen Kay Ennis (Gerry), formerly Karen Kilbourn, of Angleton, Texas passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2026 in her home, at the age of 67.

Karen was born on August 5, 1958, to Owen and Etta Gerry in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended Washington High School and later graduated from Southeast Technical College, where she studied accounting and business management.

Karen later moved to Angleton, Texas, where she married David Ennis. She loved fishing and was happiest spending time on the dock or out on the boat. She enjoyed gardening and crafting, often creating yard decorations and handmade gifts for family and friends.

Karen is survived by her children, Jon Paul of Oregon, Tony Jellis and Nick Gerry, both of Sioux Falls, and Lesa (Justin) Zahrbock of Tea; stepchildren, Tyler (Dawn) Jellis of Florida, Mandi (Kade) Powell of Brandon and Trixie (Jack) McCall of Texas; siblings, Kathy Granum and Deb Hennings, both of Sioux Falls, Michele (Donny) DeKnikker of Salem, and Mike Gerry of Georgia.

Karen was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as her lifelong friends, Marge Olson and Michelle Montross.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ennis, and her parents, Owen and Etta Gerry.

Karen was happiest with a fishing pole in hand, near the water and surrounded by family, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Terrace Park West in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
