Jose “Joe” Cabarrubia, age 80, entered his eternal home in Heaven November 15, 2024 peacefully at his home in Angleton Tx, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 4,1944 in Edna Tx, to the late Hisabel Cabarrubia & Angelita Herrera-Cabarrubia.
Joe had a strong work ethic. Starting at age 14 he worked at various jobs until 1967 when he moved to Angleton,Tx, where he worked for Robinson Tanks and Groyendyke until 1974. He then began working for Merchants for 23 years. He went on to work for Mission Petroleum and Waste Management where he retired. Retiring did not keep him home, he began working for Chemfab in 2016 until August 2024 as a “Very Valued” Maintenance Craftsman.
Joe was a man of integrity. He was the pillar of his family. He loved his family more than anything on this earth. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Joe made sure to proudly let everyone know he had 102 grandkids. The Lord Blessed Joe with many talents and skills. He was a Macgyver, you’d find him in his garage or backyard tinkering with something. Joe had a natural green thumb, he enjoyed taking care of his orange and lemon trees, making sure you picked one off the tree when you visited, he also enjoyed picking pecans when in season. If he wasn’t outside you’d find him sitting in his seat at the table or in his room with his tv tray reading the newspaper.
He also enjoyed watching college football, the NFL and the Angleton Wildcat. He was a dedicated Wildcat fan attending every home game til in his words “my knees won’t make it up the bleachers anymore”.
Joe is preceded in death by his son Jessie Cabarrubia, parents Hisabel and Angelita and his sister Olivia Gaona.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ernestina Cabarrubia, his children Mely Hernandez (David) of Angleton, Elvia Cabarrubia of Clute, Liz Damian (Danny) of Angleton, JoAnne Thomas (Jarvis) of Angleton and James Cabarrubia of Angleton.
