Husband, Dad, Pops, friend...our beloved John E. Naylor, Jr., age 73 of Angleton, passed away unexpectedly and was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, October 22, 2021 in Rockport, Texas. We mourn our loss but celebrate knowing that we will see him again. Born August 20, 1948 to John E. and Beverly Naylor in Converse, Louisiana, John was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Jack and Maybell Anderson who made a tremendous impact on his life. Growing up on their farm gave John a firm foundation of hard work and doing well in school. He spent many hours at the kitchen table with his Aunt Maybell, who was a teacher and instilled in him a love of numbers. After graduating from Zwolle High School in Sabine Parish, Louisiana, John entered Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1971. He fell in love with LSU and was a diehard fan of the Tigers his entire life! After graduation, he went to work for the Dow Chemical Co. and retired in 2006 after 34 years as a Project Manager. Two years later, he was recruited back to work with Kelly Services to complete several projects for Dow. He was respected and revered in every project he was involved in and has stayed in touch with many of his colleagues through lunch dates and golf games. In 2016, John married the love of his life and best friend, Diana, and vowed to live every day to its fullest. They enjoyed traveling and attending concerts and created wonderful memories that Diana will cherish the rest of her life. When they were home, they enjoyed gardening together, doing projects around the house and attending their small group with Brazos Pointe Fellowship. John played golf weekly and would walk the entire course each time. John was most proud of his boys, Jeff and Jason, and the "bonus" son he inherited when he married Diana, Ryan. He was their biggest fan and loved any chance he got to spend time with them and their growing families. Many times, he would volunteer to help move, fix or anything he could just to get to spend some time with them. And any chance he got to talk about them, his face would light up and it was obvious how loved they were. The wives that each of them had chosen…Hollis, Megan and Amber, he believed had truly been chosen by God and felt that they made his sons better men. But his greatest joy was the granddaughters! Alona, Vanna, Collette, Quinn and Runa were truly the sparkle in his eye and he loved to talk to anyone who would listen about them. Family was so important to John, and he cherished every moment he got to spend with them being their Pops. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Diana and his kids, Jeff and Megan Naylor, Jason and Hollis Naylor, Ryan and Amber Thornton and his precious grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Glenn and James Naylor along with nieces Chrissi Moore, Bonnie Naylor, Tina Beverly and Beverly South. His extended family - Brother-in-law Terry Easterling, Sister-in-law Patti Worfe and nieces and nephews, Jason Easterling, Ashlee Easterling and Paige Worfe, loved him as their own brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Kay Lilly and Father-in-law, George Easterling, who loved and respected John and we have no doubt, greeted him at the heavenly gates to talk stocks. His fabulous cooking, especially his Cajun dishes, will be missed at family gatherings and we will also think of John anytime we hear "Geaux Tigers!" He was quiet and unassuming but one of the kindest, most intelligent souls you would ever meet who never missed an opportunity to help others. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brazos Pointe Fellowship.
