Jimmy Fred DuBose was born February 13, 1934 at home on the family farm located at Tarkington Prairie, Texas. He was the youngest of the ten children born to Thomas Allen DuBose and Ruby Grabrielle (Carson) DuBose. His love of gardening, hunting, and fishing came from his experiences with his mom and dad on the farm. His admiration for his 3 older brother's military service during WWII and his father's civilian work in the shipyard during the war inspired him to join the service after high school graduation. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves and served 6 years and was discharged with the rank of SGT USAR.
He met the love of his life, Waynette Wells of Cleveland, TX, in 1956 and they were married 2 years later at Calvary Baptist Church. They celebrated 67 years on February 28th of this year surrounded by immediate family. They were blessed with two daughters, Leslyn DuBose Simpson and Nikki DuBose Terryberry.
Jimmy's work career began with Lacks Associates in Cleveland, where he learned appliance and TV repair. In 1961, they relocated to Angleton, TX where he accepted a job with the Houston Pipeline Company. Here, he met his lifelong best friend, Bobby Clark. In 1967, he went to work for Monsanto Chocolate Bayou, working there for 29 years until retirement. He won several awards during his employment there and made many friends. He was an Angleton resident for 63 years.
The skills he learned through his many life and work experiences enabled him to be our "fix it man". If Daddy couldn't build or fix something, it probably couldn't be done. He was very resourceful and made sure his two daughters had enough knowledge and skills to be self-sufficient when the need arose. He always had a home garden and loved sharing its bounty with friends and neighbors. His hobbies included hunting and fishing with friends and family. At one time, he shared ownership of a Cessna 150. He loved to fly locally and go on short trips to Cleveland to visit. Retirement allowed him more time to spend with his grandkids and great grandkids, even traveling a great distance to babysit. It also allowed he and Waynette to travel at will.
Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Angleton. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Tarkington Prairie No. 498 and a Master Mason for over 65 years. His father was one of the founding fathers of this lodge.
He was always a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Tom and Ruby; brothers Charlie Paul DuBose, Allen Cullen DuBose, and Hilliard Carson DuBose; sisters Iris Faye Allen, Doris Laverne Anderson, Ruby Jean Anderson, Luby Dean Stout; infant brothers John B. and baby boy.
Surviving him are his wife Waynette, daughters Leslyn Simpson (Paul) and Nikki Terryberry (Tim). Grandchildren Kasey Terryberry (Dan Herrington), Garrett Terryberry, Kelly Carnline (Michael), Kendal Gersbach (J.R.). Great-grandchildren Cayson and Barrett Gersbach, Oakley, July and Zane Carnline. Numerous nieces and nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, family members and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton at 11:00 am, with funeral services following at 1:00 pm. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at Wells Family Cemetery, 323 FM 1010 Cleveland, Texas.
