Jim Wayne Blankenship, 78, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1947, in Cullman County, Alabama, to the late Herman and Lura Imogene (Taylor) Blankenship.
Jim attended some college before answering the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971, attaining the rank of Boatswain’s Mate Third Class (BM3, E-4). His time in service reflected his dedication, strength, and commitment—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Jim built a long and respected career as a Construction Estimator. He was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability in his profession.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Herman and Lura (Taylor) Blankenship; sister Carolyn Sue Lilly.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Dawn Renee Cantrell and Tara Lee Blankenship, along with their families. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ann Sutton, and her family. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery at a later date, where he will receive the honors he so rightfully earned through his military service.
Services are under the direction of Palms Funeral Home.
