Jan Rochelle Elza

Jan Rochelle Elza, 69, of Angleton, passed away on February 15, 2026, with her family by her side. Jan was born on February 7, 1957, in Tampa, Florida, to Luther and Elizabeth J. (Perry) Johnson.

She passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, strength, and deep devotion to those she cherished most.

Jan moved to Brazoria County in 1987, where she built a life rooted in family, community, and unwavering faith. She was a strong and accomplished businesswoman who successfully owned and operated her own business until her retirement. Her determination, work ethic, and leadership were admired by many who knew and worked alongside her.

Jan dedicated much of her life to her faith and was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church for many years. She found great joy in her church family and especially loved working in children’s Bible study, where she passionately shared her love of Jesus and helped shape young hearts and minds. Her faith also led her to participate in mission trips throughout her life experiences she treasured deeply.

Jan had a love for travel and adventure. She especially loved the beach and enjoyed fishing for marlin. Known for her contagious smile and vibrant, unmatched personality, she brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.

Above all, Jan loved her family. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable pride and joy.

Jan is survived by her husband, Steven Wayne Elza; her daughter, Jessica Lobpries (Clinton); her sister, Ann Jeanine Cribbs; her grandchildren, Tyler Wilkie, Emery and Laekyn Lobpries, and Karsyn and Kutter Elza; her great-grandchildren, Braxton and Maddox Wilkie; her stepsons, Richard Elza (Family) and Ronald Elza (Family); and her cherished lifelong friends, Susan Dawson and Colleen Barthlone, whom she loved as sisters.

She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Johnson; her mother, Elizabeth J. Johnson; and her son, Chris Wilkie.

Jan will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, her strength, and her deep, unconditional love for her family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Pallbearers will be Mike Lewis, Shelby Sellers, Clinton Lobpries, Brian Cates, Chris Walthall, and James Moore.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church in Angleton on Shanks Road. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery.
