Ila Ruth Garner

Ila Ruth (Andrus) Garner, 88, of Angleton was called home on June 22, 2025. Ila Ruth was born on March 2, 1937, in North Zulch to Plummer and Ila Ray (Drake) Andrus. She married E.K. Murray in the early 50s and had 3 children. She married the man that she would rebuild a life with, Vernon Garner, in September of 1971.

Ila Ruth enjoyed teaching the grandkids to play dominos, uno, and other games. She loved watching the hummingbirds, and the country life. Giving to others and teaching us the ways of life. Sewing, crocheting, cooking and just hanging out with family. She was the best Mom.

Those that preceded her in death include her husband Vernon Garner, her parents Plummer and Ila Ray, her son Ken Murray, sister Joyce Surgener and brother Jay Andrus.

Left to treasure her memory is her daughter Melody Murray of Angleton and son Gerald (Jessie) Murray of Summerfield, Florida, and Patti (Ken) Murray of Bastrop; sister Glen Brady and brothers Weldon (Janice) Andrus and Duckie (Charlene) Andrus along with 7 grandkids, 8 great grandkids with one on the way, and 5 great-great grandkids.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel at Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch, with the interment to follow.
