Huey Paul "Curly" Soileau

August 26, 1928 — December 10, 2025

Huey Paul “Curly” Soileau (pronounced Swallow) was born the 6th child to parents Alex Soileau and Amie Reed Soileau on August 26, 1928, in Whiteville, LA. He passed away on December 10, 2025, in Angleton, TX.

In 1949 he was drafted in the Army and served until 1951.

While in the Army he was educated in Fort Knox, KY to be a track and wheel Mechanic.

In Beaumont, he met Sue Williams. They were married November 8, 1951. They had 3 children, Gail, Mark and Paul.

In 1953, Curly and Sue and Gail moved to Angleton for one year to work for Angleton Ford.

In 1954 after the Angleton job, the Sour Lake, TX dealership offered him a job. The Soileau family made their home there until October 1962. Curly bought Mr. Howard Stewart’s B. F. Goodrich store in October 1962.

His wife Sue worked at the shop with him keeping the books. They were together 24 hours a day! And stayed married all those years! Sue passed in 2007, leaving a void in his life.

We credit his success in business by treating people with honesty and respect. Curly has always insisted on excellent work from his employees.

And now 63 years later, his business is still in operation with his son, Mark managing the business and his daughter Gail doing the bookkeeping.

In his community, Curly was a member of the Noon Lions Club, Angleton Chamber of Commerce, and he is also a 4th degree Knights of Columbus in the Catholic Church.

Curly was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Soileau, parents Alex and Amie Soileau, siblings: Hester, George, Cliff, Harry, Cary, and Lou.

Left to treasure his memory are his children: Gail Thomas and husband Patrick, Mark Soileau, and Paul Soileau; grandson Patrick Reed McCurley and wife Tracey and great granddaughter Evelyn McCurley.
