Horace Alton Parsons, 77, of Angleton passed away on Friday, January14th at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas after bravely facing esophageal cancer. Horace was born on September 7th, 1944 in Angleton, Texas and was a graduate of Angleton High School. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran who received awards for service, conduct and rifle marksmanship. Horace worked as a pipefitter and a welder with the Pipefitters LocalUnion #211 until his retirement and helped build the Alaskan pipeline and worked across the country and world, as far as Saudi Arabia. He was also a past Master and member the Danbury Masonic Lodge #1432. He loved to hunt and fish and was a skilled archer. Horace is survived by his daughter Susan Garlington and her partner Jackson Lynch of Pearland; sister, Mary Alice Czarowitz and husband Michael of Wild Peach; sister-in-law Carol Celestine and husband Sadler "Chief" of Alvin; brother in law Billy Miller of LaGrange; nieces Nancy Lee and husband Robert of League City; Nantatia Holder and husband Seth of Wild Peach; Stacy Gallegos and husband Raoul of Houston; Lisa Fiess and husband Jody of League City; Kelli Miller Moore and husband Steve of La Grange; nephews Thomas Williams and wife Heather of Poteet, Brandon Miller of Bastrop and Jace Miller of Waco; many great nieces and nephews and a close group of coffee drinking buddies in Angleton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Gayle Parsons; son, Travis Scott Parsons; parents Horace E. "Buster" and Mary Odell Parsons; and sister, Judy Paulette Parsons. A visitation service will be held 10-11 AM Saturday January 22nd at Palms Funeral Chapel with a memorial service immediately following at 11AM. A reception will be held at Susan and Jackson's home in Pearland after the Service. Service Details.
