Harold Byrd Mink

Harold Byrd Mink, 96, was reunited with his beloved Barbara on September 4. He was born January 30, 1930 in Danbury, Tx to Oscar Byrd and Alma Senter Mink who preceded him in death.

Harold's wife Barbara of 54 years preceded him in death as well as his siblings; Grady Mink, Doris Larson, Annabelle Bogema, and Iva June Martin.

Harold is survived by children David Mink and wife Frannie, Lori Mink Patterson and husband Joe, Keith Mink and wife, Danielle. Grandchildren Cassie Mink, Mallory Waters and husband Kris, Kaleb Mink and wife Ashley, Kassidy Mink, Alexa Patterson, Noah Mink and wife Avery, and Hannah Mink. Great grandchildren, Eleanor Horne, Logan Waters, Elizabeth Waters, and Parker Mink. Sisters-in-law Ann Floyd and BJ Floyd. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

After high school Harold served in the Navy from 1948 – 1952. He was an Aviation Ordinance in the Korean War from 1950-1952. During this time he earned a Korean defense medal. He then served in the Marines from 1953-1962 as Sergeant. Other honors he earned were several good conduct awards and an expert rifleman. After the service, he worked as a pipefitter/welder until his retirement in 1991. Then he and Barbara packed up the camper and were park hosts between Texas and Colorado for many years before settling back in Brazoria County. In 2022 he became a 50 year member of the Danbury Masonic Lodge.

We cannot say enough good things about the wonderful staff at County Village nursing home. Everyone there loved Dad and we just knew it. They gave him nick names such as Minky Mink, Mink Mink, Papa Mink. It means so much to know that your loved one is being taken care of by others just as we would. Also, thank you to Choice Hospice for their compassion and care.

A celebration of life will be held on October 3, 2026; 10:00 a.m. At Palms Funeral Home Chapel in Angleton, Texas.
