It is with hearts full of gratitude that we celebrate the life of Georgie Ann Burns, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 24, 1928, in God’s perfect timing on Christmas Eve in New Gulf, TX, Georgie was truly a gift to all who knew her. As the beloved matriarch of her family, Georgie exemplified love, strength, and dedication throughout her 96 years. She was the devoted wife of Marvin Burns for an extraordinary 70 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Together, they raised three daughters and watched their family blossom into multiple generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Georgie faithfully served as church secretary, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her faith and community in Angleton, TX. She also played a part in preparing the history of the First Baptist Church of Angleton as she was a life-long member. For a number of years, she served as a volunteer with the Auxiliary at UTMB Angleton Danbury Campus. Her loving spirit, inner strength, and steadfast devotion touched countless lives and created a legacy that will continue through the many hearts she influenced.

Georgie leaves behind her beloved family, daughter Carol Ann Jackson, daughter Judy Benge and husband Nathan, and son-in-law Robert Rodgers.

Grandchildren: Amy Goff, Clint Jackson and wife Sammy, Laurie Bazar and husband Jeremy, Toby Broussard and wife Dana, Steve Rodgers and wife Glencora, Kelley Reid and husband Justin, Cody Broussard and wife April, and Katie Rodgers

Great Grandchildren: Colten Jackson and wife Payton, Wesley Jackson and wife Sadie, Sarah Gudgell and husband Wesley, Augustus (Gus) Bazar, Jake Bazar, Hagen Reid, Kenzie Reid, Tandie Broussard, Hailey Broussard, Connor Broussard, Michael Teal, Lyvia Rodgers and Will Rodgers

Great-Great Grandchildren: Slade Jackson, Acey Jackson, Blaine Jackson, Andi Jackson and Parker Gudgell

Georgie is preceded in death by the love of her life husband, Marvin Neil Burns, daughter Sheryl Lynn Rodgers, son-in-law David Lee Jackson, great grandson Jody Wade Broussard, parents George Ira Pourchot and Johnnie Bell Pourchot, siblings Dorothy Anderson, Lydia Regner, and Doris Baker

A memorial service for Georgie will be held at First Baptist Church of Angleton on Saturday September 6, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Family invites friends to the fellowship hall for a meal at 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place at Phair Cemetery after the service located in Clute, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Clint Jackson, Toby Broussard, Cody Broussard, Steve Rodgers, Jeremy Bazar and Justin Reid.
