Freda V. DeLoach

Freda Waters DeLoach, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Danbury, Texas, on April 2, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on June 12, 1936, in Albany, Texas, Freda lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures that she shared with her family and friends.

Freda was known for her warm heart and kind spirit. As a devoted mother to her daughters, Debby Dean and Patricia Tatom, and her son, Billy DeLoach, she instilled in them the importance of family and the joy of togetherness. She celebrated life’s moments with her dear daughter-in-law, Lorri DeLoach, as well as her ex-son-in-law, Robert Tatom. Freda took immense pride in her grandchildren: Amanda Herndon, Brent Zwahr, Patrick Tatom, John Tatom, Cory DeLoach, Krista Menard, and Kaegan DeLoach, each of whom she loved dearly and supported with unwavering encouragement. Also left to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren; Maddison Zwahr, Mason Zwahr, Carson Menard, Kennedy Menard, Cade Chamberlin, Lennox Herndon, Angel Gayton, Chloe Roach, and Russell Roach.

Freda enjoyed a fulfilling career as a bookkeeper, where her meticulous nature and work ethic shone. Outside of her professional life, Freda found joy in many activities. She loved dancing, playing cards, and croquet, and had an adventurous spirit that often led her to rent a motorhome for exciting trips to Las Vegas. There, she reveled in the thrill of gambling, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Freda had a special bond with her "special best friends," and together they created a community filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Her positivity and enthusiasm for life will be profoundly missed.

Freda is survived by her loving sisters: Francis McAfee, Mary Pioterek (husband, Don), and Barbara Griffin (husband, John), all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

A celebration of Freda’s life will take place on April 10, 2025, with a visitation at Community Baptist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Smith officiating. A graveside service will follow at Danbury Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. to honor her memory.

Cory DeLoach, Josh Menard, Carson Menard, Brent Zwahr, Mason Zwahr and John Tatom will honor Freda as they serve as pallbearers.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband; William DeLoach, her parents: Eldon and Ruby Waters, her siblings: Ray Waters, Glenn Waters, and Gracie Martin, son-in-law, Mike Dean, and brother-in-law, Charles McAfee.
