Darla Kay Murrell and husband Don Marcus Murrell Sr. welcomed their son Devin Chase Murrell into the world on April 16, 1986. He was the very best of Donnie and Darla. He was a man among men. Tragically, Darla and her beloved son Chase departed this world together on February 12, 2024.
Chase dedicated himself to helping his parents operate the family run business, Thermal Polymers Systems of Angleton, where he worked as the Manager of Operations.
It’s near impossible to put a life this full into a few words, but the first word in his story would be “selfless.” Chase was selfless, a giver by nature. He was a kind and patient soul… full of optimism.
He had a willingness to seek out the humor and joy in life. Rarely did he meet a stranger. He had many lifelong friends that he kept in touch with through the “Virtual Icehouse.” Chase was the friend that a friend would like to have. He was genuine and hard working. Rock steady and reliable, he
was always there and quick to lend a hand.
Chase was a man of many resources. He delighted in fixing broken things, especially anything with wheels, notably black cars and square body trucks. Chase was an avid outdoorsman, with a fondness for hunting, fishing, old dogs, and ducks. He spent many hours on the family ranch in Del Rio building cherished moments with loved ones.
Surrounded by friends and family, Chase and the love of his life, Margret Megan Choate, were united in holy matrimony on November 12, 2022. He was an active and devoted stepfather to sons Ayden and Kole and daughter Ava. His cup runneth over.
Preceded in death by his grandfather VJ (Buddy) Calcote, grand-parents Grover and Helen Murrell, and aunt Terri Calcote.
Left to carry on his memory is his loving wife Maggie Murrell, his father Donnie Murrell, children Ayden Choate- Luna, Ava Luna, and Kole Cammarn; grandmother Margaret Calcote, brother Marc Murrell (Natasha), sister Tonya Motl (Paul), mother and father-in-law Greg and Sonya Galetka, brothers-in-law Jason Galetka (Carrie), Travis “Eli” Choate (Patricia), sister-in-law JoLee Stuart (Clayton), uncle Randy Murrell (Marcy), uncle Gary Murrell (Sandy), aunt Carla Eskew, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
