David Lee Jackson
June 24, 1949 – June 13, 2025
With boots worn from the trail and a heart full of grit, love, and loyalty, David Jackson, 75 years old, rode off into the sunset on June 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as wide as the open pastures he called home.
He was born on June 24, 1949, in Waco, Tx to Belvin Lee and Mary Alice Jackson. As a child, David and his parents moved to Lake Jackson where shortly after he met the love of his life Carol Ann Burns. Early on in their relationship his future father-in-law, Marvin, introduced him to ranching and agriculture. Which set forth his love for horses, cattle and the cowboy way of life. He always had a smile on his face and there to lend a hand. He was honest, hardworking and loyal to all. Whether he was breaking horses, mending fences, or gathering cattle at sunrise, David carried himself with quiet strength and unwavering purpose.
More than anything, David was a family man. He shared a deep and lasting love with his wife, Carol, his partner in all things for 55 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and the values of the land. He was a proud and devoted father to his children, Clint, Laurie and Kelley, who were the light of his life. His greatest joy came from watching them grow and ride their own trails with strength and kindness.
To know him was to know a storyteller, a steady friend, and a man who found peace in the outdoors, riding horses, working cattle, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. As a young man David, started out at Dow caring for the research cattle, after leaving Dow he moved his family to Shiner, TX, where he and Carol purchased Shiner Sheller Feed while also working for Triple J ranch as a Ranch Manager. After moving back to Angleton, TX to raise their family David worked in the oil and gas industry until he retired to work for himself to operate a bulldozer.
From early on in David’s life he fought many health battles, beginning when he found out through being drafted for the military that he had a serious health condition that ended up causing the need for a kidney transplant at the young age of 46. He continued to fight through many other ailments, including a TBI in 2017 that left him in a wheelchair and dependent on Carol’s help every day. We know that he is free from any medical condition and back in the saddle, working cows and visiting family as he was a born-again Christian at the age of 20.
David leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol; his children, Clint Jackson and wife Sammy, Laurie Bazar and husband Jeremy, Kelley Reid and Husband Justin, Grandchildren Colten Jackson(Payton), Wesley Jackson(Sadie), Sarah Gudgell(Wesley), Augustus (Gus) Bazar, Jake Bazar, Hagen Reid, and Kenzie Reid, as well as 5 great grandchildren, Slade, Acey, Blayne, Andi and Parker. Also leaving behind his siblings Barbara Lorraine and Randy Jackson, Mother-in-law Georgie Burns and numerous other family members.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Belvin Jackson, Mary Alice White, father-in-law Marvin Burns, Sister Carolyn Thomas, and sister-in-law Sheryl Rodgers.
Though the saddle is now empty, his spirit rides on in every sunrise over the hills, every hoofbeat on a dusty trail, and every kind act done in his name. May the winds be at his back and the trail always lead him home.
Memorial services for David will be held at Palms Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
A celebration of life will be held following the service at First Baptist Church in Angleton. In true cowboy fashion, jeans and boots are welcome.
