Charles Ray Finley

September 17, 1937 — May 13, 2025

Charles Ray Finley, 87, of Missouri City, Tx, passed away on May 13th. He passed away peacefully at the Assisted Living Center where he had been a resident the past few years.

He was born in September of 1937 to Herschel Marvin and Margaret (Ray) Finley. He was an only child for his first 16 years, when his family was blessed with a little sister, Susan. His early years were lived in Coolidge Texas, but the family moved to Clute and then Richwood after his Father took a job at Dow in Freeport as a machinist.

He graduated from Brazosport High School, and after a year at Texas A&M, he decided to join the Army. Once he got his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he moved back to Richwood and met a pretty young brunette working at the Dairy Queen named Dorothy, who later became his wife of 59 years. Charles and Dorothy had three children (Michelle, Mark, and Anthony), along with multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He began his professional career working at Hudson Engineering in the fab shop behind the engineering building. After a short time in the fab shop, he went on to join the Piping Design Team, where he excelled at his work. Eventually he became a Project Manager for Hudson, McDermott, John Brown, and finally Mustang Engineering. All the time he was excelling at his career, he was working hard to be a good father as well.

He also very much enjoyed spending time with his brothers-in-law (Jimmy, Bobby, and Paul). They enjoyed many years of bowling and golfing together, along with the occasional hunting trip. All of them were very accomplished bowlers.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Herschel and Margaret Finley; his sister, Susan Shaw. He is survived by his three children: Michelle Johnson and Sequetta Baldwin (grandson: Chris and Melanie Johnson), Mark and Missy Finley (grandchildren: Roger, Reyna, and Brianna) and Anthony and Angelia Finley (grandsons: Ryan, Dylan, and Bennett).
