Charles D. Cox

December 22, 1932 – October 20, 2026

It is with deep sadness, yet with faith and gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Charles D. Cox, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born on December 22, 1932, Charles built his life around his faith, his family, and his commitment to serving others. On March 28, 1952, he married the love of his life, Crystal (Pearce) Cox, beginning a beautiful marriage and family that would become the foundation of his greatest legacy. Their love and devotion to one another spanned more than 74 wonderful years. Charles was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a faithful Christian who attended Calvary Baptist Church and sought to live his life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

In 1970, Charles founded Cox Furniture Company in Angleton, Texas, building a flourishing and successful business on the principles of honesty, integrity, hard work, and service to others. For more than 55 years, Cox Furniture became a well-known and respected part of the Angleton community. His success was measured not only by the business he built, but also by the lives he touched along the way. Charles believed in helping others, serving his community, and treating people with fairness and kindness. Those values became the foundation of his business and a lasting example for his family. One of his proudest accomplishments was passing the family business down to his children, ensuring that the Cox family name and the legacy he worked so hard to establish would continue for generations to come.

Above all his accomplishments, Charles's greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Crystal Cox, with whom he shared more than seven decades of marriage; and their four children, Barbara Hurst, Dwayne Cox and his wife, Janet, Dana Alsobrook and her husband, Sammy, and Ricky Cox.

Charles was a proud grandfather to ten cherished grandchildren: Kristin Hurst Hebron, Michael Hurst, Jonathan Hurst, Jessica Cox Steward, Benjamin Cox, Emma Cox Boothe, Daniel DeBerry, Debbie DeBerry, Laura Cox Whearley, and Hannah Cox. His love for his family extended to his treasured great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of faith, love, and kindness for generations to come.

His family was his greatest blessing, and the lessons he taught through his faith, his hard work, and the way he treated others will continue to live on in each generation that follows.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Charles has completed his earthly journey and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, honesty, generosity, and service that will never be forgotten.

As we say goodbye to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend, we hold close the words of our Lord:

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21

His work here is finished. His faith has become sight. And though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the family he loved, the business he built, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched.

Until we meet again in Heaven.
