Bonnie Ruth Barker, 89, of Angleton went home to her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2022. Bonnie was born on July 28, 1932 to parents James A. and Martha Jane (Currie) Morgan on the Eastham Prison Unit in Lovelady, Texas where her father worked as a Dog Sargent. She had three siblings, Ruby Morgan-Kuykendahl, John Morgan, and James Morgan. Bonnie worked for the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department for 43 years. While she began her career as a dispatcher. Bonnie, and a handful of other women, spent the next several decades shattering glass ceilings within a patriarchal system hell-bent on maintaining the status quo. Bonnie retired from her position in the Criminal Investigations Division as a Lieutenant in 1997. Bonnie was an active member of the Angleton Community for most of her life and worked for many years to support the Women's Center of Brazoria County. She was a dedicated member of the Angleton Church of Christ and a beloved member of the church family. Bonnie was a treasured and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was an upstanding citizen and was not one to turn down an adventure. She enjoyed traveling, exploring old places, sewing, gardening, and serving her Lord Jesus Christ. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents James A. and Martha Jane Morgan. Daughter Martha Jane Carr, siblings Ruby Morgan-Kuykendahl, John Morgan, and James "Doodie" Morgan. Left to remember her are her children James Carr, Ted Carr and wife Ernie Kay, and Annie Barker-Van Cleave and husband David. Stepchildren Gary Barker and Sharon Brodie. Grandchildren Cody Rowe, Lacey Rowe, and Nathan Carr, and great-grandchild Preslea Rowe Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ with Pastors Leland Rogers and David Olmos officiating.
