Betty Rose (Brown) Wollam, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Angleton, Texas. She was born on January 5, 1930, in Jellico, Tennessee, in Campbell County.
Betty devoted her life to the education and care of children, spending her career as a first-grade teacher. She was passionate about helping young minds grow and made a lasting impact on many students throughout her years in the classroom. Prior to her teaching career, Betty served as the City Secretary for the City of Danbury.
In her free time, Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, doing crossword puzzles, watching INSP Westerns on television, and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a dedicated volunteer for 50 years at UTMB Angleton Danbury Campus, formerly known as Angleton Danbury Medical Center.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Wollam and his wife, Nancy; her great-granddaughter, Emily Wollam; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lee Wollam; her son, Jeff Wollam; her parents, Don and Estelle (Watt) Brown; her siblings, John Brown, Chaulk Brown, W.A. Brown, and Gina Wollam; and her grandson, Jesse Wollam.
A funeral service will be held at Palms Funeral Home on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor David Catoe officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., prior to the service. Betty will be laid to rest next to her beloved Gene at Danbury Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betty’s memory to Danbury Baptist Church (5615 2nd St., Danbury, TX 77534) or to the UTMB Ladies Auxiliary (132 E. Hospital Drive, Angleton, TX 77515).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff of Country Village Nursing Home and IPH Hospice for loving and caring for her as if she were one of your own.
