Bernice Oral (Bo) Pierce
1934 – 2025
Bernice Oral (Bo) Pierce, 91, of Angleton passed away on July 5, 2025.
Bo, the youngest of three sons, was born on March 18, 1934, in Crichton, Alabama to parents Leonard and Willie Mae (Brannon) Pierce.
He moved with his family as a youngster to Freeport where he later met the love of his life, Frances Laverne Landry. They married on September 19, 1953. They were married for 69 years.
Bo joined the Army in February 1954 and served for two years, after which he returned to the Angleton area with two children. Bo worked in the construction field eventually becoming employed as a Teamster. His hard work and business savvy paid off with supervisory roles at NASA and on large projects including the South Texas Nuclear Project. Upon retirement, out of his love for kids, he took a job driving a school bus, which he did for the next 21 years, eventually retiring altogether at the age of 83. Bo was one of those people that made the workplace a fun place and a sense of humor that enabled him to make friends wherever he went. Bo loved sports, especially football and was an avid Alabama fan and Aggie fan. He coached little league baseball for several years. He was a great dancer and loved to “cut a rug” with Frances. In the process, he taught Belinda to be a great dancer too. Though they had many friends, they were never far apart. Together they made a great life with their kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He supported them in their activities, attending their games or whatever they were involved in. The great grandchildren loved their Big Pawpaw and had the luxury of knowing and spending time with him on a regular basis and after school.
Bo was preceded in death by his wife, by his parents and his two brothers.
Those left to remember him include his children: Belinda (Tommy), Gaines of Angleton and Bernice (Bo) Pierce, Jr. of Dallas. He is also survived by grandchildren Colby (Paige) Gaines, their three children Martin, Everett and Savanah of Austin and Chase (Courtney) Gaines and their children Alyssa, Lexi and Avery of Lake Jackson.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Palms Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Angleton Cemetery.
The family is so thankful to those who were so supportive in Bo’s last months including his neighbors: the Garrett’s, Garner’s, Toth’s and Amelia and Leslie; friends, especially Lynn Cicero who was a frequent visitor and comforter to Bo and the family throughout. Finally, we want to thank the entire staff at Sodalis of Lake Jackson for their thoughtful care during his stay there. In remembrance of Bo’s love of kids, please consider that in-leu of flowers, donations be made to those recovering from the Hill Country flood (https://people.com/how-to-help-victims-of-the-texas-floods-11767154), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
