Obituary

Barry Lynn Blaha, age 62, passed away on March 11, 2026. He was born on November 15, 1963 and lived his entire life in Angleton, Texas, a community he knew well and called home.

In his younger years, Barry was known as a hardworking man with a strong work ethic and a love for building and creating. He married and became a father at the young age of 17, stepping into those responsibilities early in life with determination and a deep love for his children. He enjoyed tinkering and taking on projects, often working with his hands to fix or build something new. More than anything, he was a loving and devoted father who made time for his children and included them in the things he loved. He taught them to appreciate the outdoors, shared many fishing trips with them, and brought them alongside him in the many projects he worked on. He faithfully showed up for them and supported them in their activities. Those who knew him during that time remember a man who had a unique personality that left an impression on the people around him. His life story, like many, included both joy and hardship.

Later in life, Barry faced significant struggles with mental illness, which brought many challenges for him and those who loved him. Though these years were difficult, they never erased the man he once was nor the life he lived before those struggles took hold. His journey is a reminder of the very real burdens that many quietly carry.

Those who knew him best hold onto the memories of who he was in his earlier years—moments of laughter, glimpses of kindness, and the pieces of his life that reflected the person he was created to be.

As Christians, our family finds comfort knowing that his struggles have now ended. We have confidence that he is finally at peace and resting in the presence of the Lord, where pain, confusion, and suffering are no more.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4

Barry is survived by his children, Brett Blaha and Ashley Taylor (Casey); his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Austin, Shelby, and Wimberley; and his siblings, Brian Blaha (Lisa), Bruce Blaha (Tina), Beverly Lanfear, and Brent Blaha (Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Blaha.

Visitation will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m.

In remembering Barry, the family encourages others to extend compassion to those who struggle with mental illness and to hold close the hope that every life—no matter how complicated—has value, dignity, and meaning.
