It is with deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara Jane Collard, “Gran”, 83, of Angleton. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2025. She was born on January 20,1942, in Center, Texas, to Maurine and Harold Rhodes.
Jimmy and Barbara met in their hometown of Henderson, Texas, when Jimmy walked into Sammy’s Café. Across the room, he saw a family friend sitting in a booth. He thought how pretty she had grown up to be. He boldly walked up and grabbed her hand, just to see what happened. They have not stopped holding hands ever since.
For better job opportunities, they moved to Angleton, Texas, in 1962 with their two daughters, Debbie and Donna. That same year, their son, Kelly was born.
Barbara enjoyed painting, photography, sewing, and being with her family. They became proud grandparents in 1988, 1989, and 1995, and even prouder great-grandparents in 2016, 2018, and 2021. Barbara loved her family and her Lord dearly and served them well.
Jimmy and Barbara are members of Greater Heights Baptist Fellowship in Angleton.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Herold Rhodes; her brother, Tommy Rhodes; her mother, Maurine Rhodes Bivone; and her grandchild, Erica Collard.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Collard; her sister, Betty Pyle; her children, Debbie and Joe Chambers, Donna and Doug Moran, and Kelly and Tina Collard; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Seth Liles, Justin and Kalyn Collard, and Emily Collard; her great-grandchildren, Maverick and Molly Liles, and Ella and Luke Collard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Texas Baptist Institute in Henderson, Texas, in Barbara’s honor.
