Angelita "Helen" Ordonez

Angelita “Helen” Ordonez, 80, of Angleton, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was born on August 23, 1944, in Angleton, where she lived a full and generous life surrounded by family, friends, and faith.

Helen worked at the Angleton Amusement Record Shop, where she formed lifelong friendships and shared her love of music and community. A devoted volunteer, she gave her time and heart to St. Thomas Aquinas Resale Shop every Friday for many years.

Known for her incredible sense of humor, welcoming spirit, and unwavering kindness, Helen always saw the good in people. Her home was a welcoming home for many, filled with laughter, love, and warm hospitality. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and family, who brought her endless joy. She was deeply proud of her grandchildren and loved being part of their lives — celebrating their accomplishments, sharing her stories, and simply enjoying their company.

She is survived by her son, Cesar Calderon (Cindi) of Angleton; daughter, India Sosa and husband Lee of Lake Jackson; and her beloved grandchildren, Angelica Calderon (Aubrey), Diego Ordonez, and Mia Sosa. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Manuela Whitehouse and Elvira Duque.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Domingo Ordonez; her parents, Alberto and Elvira Calderon; her brothers, Donato, Leon, and Frank Calderon; and her sisters, Marina Mata and Juanita Maldonado.

Visitation will be held at 10am, with a memorial service immediately following at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Helen’s light, laughter, and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her. “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
