Alicia Maria Hernandez, 38 of Angleton, Texas, unexpectedly died and entered into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday morning, May 12, 2025.
Born in Austin, Texas at Seton Medical Center along with her brother Rafael Raul Hernandez (fraternal twin brother) on a Sunday afternoon on March 8, 1987 to Roger and Annie Marie (Rodriguez) Hernandez.
Alicia was baptized at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Austin, Texas, completed her sacraments of the Eucharist and Penance at Saint Basil’s Catholic Church. She and her brother served the Lord by assisting the priest during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. She strengthen her bond with the church and perfected her baptism through the sacrament of confirmation at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton.
She began her education at Mrs. Boggs preschool with her brother and life long friends. She entered her primary education at the Early Childhood Center, Frontier Elementary, and Eastside Middle School. She is a 2005 graduate of Angleton High School. She was awarded a scholarship from the Angleton Knights of Columbus, Council 5155, to continued her higher education studies at Alvin Community College. She transferred to Stephen F. Austin University majoring in psychology.
Alicia was an outstanding athlete playing for the Angleton Girls Softball Association, Angleton Youth Basketball Association, Angleton Soccer Club, HTX indoor elite soccer club, met the requirements for the Kajukenbo first degree black belt under Sifu Willie Galvan, a proficient swimmer, and studied dance at Pure Energy Dance Studio. Alicia selected soccer as her primary high school sport and was elevated to the varsity team her freshman year.
After returning to Angleton, she enjoyed sports teams like the Houston Rockets, Dallas Cowboys, FIFA World Cup soccer, Texas Longhorns, and of course, the Angleton Wildcats and the SFA Lumberjacks. She also enjoyed Tejano music, backyard barbecues, barbecue cook offs, country & western music, dancing, and enjoyed the many many traditional family gatherings and holidays. But most especially she loved and enjoyed the children of all her cousins, watching them grow up over the years, Alicia will be deeply missed.
She worked and volunteered for many organizations and businesses throughout her work life career, most notably at UTMB Health, Angleton Independent School District, and Country Village Care where she was adored by all her patients.
Alicia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Severo and Maria Delfina (Garcia) Rodriguez.
Alicia is survived by her parents Roger and Annie Marie (Rodriguez) Hernandez and her paternal grandparents, Raul and Inez (Soto) Hernandez; her brother: Rafael Raul Hernandez (Flor) and niece Madison; aunts and uncles: JoAnne Bromonsky (Ricky), Sophia Rodrigue (David), Idalia Yanez, Maria Ornelas (Ben), and Diana Martinez (Joe); cousins: Aric Bromonsky (Jenny), Taylor Rhodes (Jeff), Brett Bromonsky (Dominique), Tristian Trevino (Jessica), Roland Yanez (Rose), Brandy Yanez (Robby), Gabriel Ornelas (Lindsay), Dr. Laura Ornelas, PhD, Joshua Martinez, and Jessica Bassett (Hunter).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Angleton Cemetery.
