John Luther Jones (73) of Lake Jackson, TX went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2020, after a lengthy illness. "Johnny", as referred to by loved ones, was born on October 7, 1947, in Delhi, LA to Luther N. Jones & LaVerne Higgs Jones Knight. He grew up in Monroe, LA and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, John attended East Texas Baptist College where he met Sharon Shuman of Danbury, TX. They were married on Jan. 2, 1971, in Danbury. Johnny lived most of the next 50 years in Brazoria County. He worked as a Brazoria County Sheriff's Deputy, bail bondsman, machinist, and an OSHA Certified Safety Director. He was an Eagle Scout and volunteered as a coach at Brazosport Christian School. His hobbies were football and hunting. Johnny was a dedicated Christian. His favorite Bible verse was Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Luther N. Jones, his mother LaVerne Knight, and his sister, Linda Sue Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Jones; his son Joby Kade Jones and wife Lauren; his son Justin Luther Jones and wife Audra and grandchildren Landon, Madison, and Aiden Jones; his sister Mary Frances Young of Monroe, LA; and his brother-in-law Roy Martin Anderson of Downsville, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Johnny's grandson, Landon Jones. Click here to Donate.
