John Hughes 'Tim' Tigner Iii

John Hughes "Tim" Tigner, III, died at the age of 69 on June 13, 2016 after a long illness at Kindred Hospital in Houston, TX surrounded by family. Tim was born October 22, 1946 in Kingsville, Texas to Dorothy Peacock and J. H. "Tim" Tigner, Jr. As a child Tim spent countless days on the Tigner Ranch outside of Angleton with his grandparents, "Papa" and "Mimi" Tigner until their passing. Tim went to Danbury public school and graduated form Danbury High School in 1965. In school, he was a noted all-around athlete, excelling in football, basketball and track. Aside from sports, Tim was in the drama club, school newspaper, UIL typing team, and was voted Mr. DHS. After high school, he attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He remained a steadfast Longhorn fan all of this life. He also, although difficult at times, remained a loyal fan of the Houston Astros, Rockets and Texans. In 1969, Tim married Leah Smolensky of El Campo. Tim and Leah, shared their life together, celebrating 47 years of marriage on June 1 of this year. This marriage produced 4 daughters: Shannon Tigner, Tracy Tigner Whitney (Jay) and Rachael Tigner Ayala (Larry) all of Angleton and Drucilla Tigner (Chris Browne) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tim enjoyed cooking, including many years of competing in the Brazoria County BBQ cook-off, watching his daughter's play sports, and often times coaching, reading mystery and sci-fi novels, watching sci-fi shows, and playing solitaire and completing cross-word puzzles while seated at his favorite antique desk. Tim was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Buster Peacock and Jewel Martin, paternal grandparents Marie Williams and John H. Tigner, Sr., his father, John H. Tigner, Jr., sister Re'Va Novak, step fathers Robert Novak and E. E. "Red" Brewer and uncle Tom Tigner and aunt Frankie Tigner. In addition to his wife and children, Tim is survived by his mother Dorothy Brewer, sister Ro'Vin Garrett and brother Bill Tigner of Angleton; brother Andy Novak (Carol) of Aubrey, Texas; brother-in law Bill Smolensky (Lin) of Houston; grandchildren London Whitney, Reagan James, and Noah Ayala, all of Angleton; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Arrangements are scheduled at Palms Funeral Home Chapel in Angleton for Wednesday June 15, 2016 at 11:00 am. There will be no formal viewing. All are invited to the gravesite after the services in Danbury. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County or the charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Howell, Russel Reeder, Frank Tigner, Hector DelaRosa, Bill Smolensky, and Jay Whitney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Tigner, Allan Dinsmore, Ronald Jolley, Andy Novak, Williams Tigner, Larry Ayala, and Christopher Browne.
