Walter Hubert Holt, 77, of Angleton passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 at Palms.
Walter was born July 20, 1933 in Brownwood, Texas to Curtis Leon & Helen Dixon Yancey Holt.
He was a US Navy Veteran & served in the Korean Conflict. He taught English for 35 years in Pasadena & Danbury.
Walter served as Athletic Director in Danbury from 1957-1960 and had served as Head Football Coach. He was named Coach of the Year twice.
Walter was also an artist and writer, he was a strong Christian and would help anyone in anyway.
His daughter; Sharon Renee Holt his parents & brother Louis Holt preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Vivian Holt, 14 cousins, nieces & nephews.
If he were here, Walter would say goodbye. He cared about people and animals of all kinds. If he had been a farmer his animals would have died of old age. To you , however, he might add “May the presence of God love and keep you safe and secure until we meet again.”
Pallbearers will be Toby DeBerry, John Bays, Glenn Sebesta, Tommy Harvey, Tommy Simpson & Mike Starr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Danbury Varsity Football Players 1977-1980.
In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to IPH Hospice in Angleton, Texas
